had a look at this one every now and then... but pretty speculative for me....
Questions if anyone has thought about this, and wants to compare notes:
1. Price and availability
Has anyone bought this through the TGA in Australia? Not sure where to start to be honest...
here it says its $253 for 6mL at 2.5mg per spray...
In tablet form... they come in in 5mg to 20mg tablets... and at 0.1mL per spray...
so that's 60 sprays at 2.5mg... 30 serves (2 squirts per serve) for 5mg or 7.5 serves (8 squirts per serve) for 20mg
working out at $8.50 to $33.50 per serve
which is substantially more expensive than a tablet... which could be chewed and absorbed sub-lingual if fast response is desired (or even snorted if so inclined).
also, 7.5 sprays is a bit hard going...
in saying that, they say utilization is higher (assuming no sneezing etc.) so that would affect the price / practicality of this delivery mechanism.
2. Why doesn't a pharma company do it already?
I read somewhere a while ago that the big pharma companies did trial nasal spray delivery many years ago... but never progressed.
anyone have insight on what that was the case?
If this is a better delivery system, why doesn't one of the drug companies already producing the drug try to differentiate itself by offering this solution?
