@austinhealy64, I was a demerger owner; one of the few that didn't want a demerger for the long term business benefits of the ALK/ASM combined entity, the synergies of keeping them combined far better than any unobservable business benefits from demerger (BDO, executives, and PWC the only real beneficiaries from that deal [and shareholders who sold out on the usual financialisation hyped]) I sold out of most of my shares around $6 from memory. I was seriously thinking of shorting it above $10. Things got a bit silly up there. They are similarly a bit silly down here. In my opinion of course. ASM has its risks, but at $1.73 the potential capital gains make those risk far more palatable than at $14.
I sold out of ALK at $1.20, so am happily buying back both here at far better levels. The business prospects of both ALK and ASM are frankly better than when I sold them far higher.
