A couple of non grandfathered rule changes to Super impacted my plans too. Quietly hopeful to that any new changes help my cause, not hinder it. Once, if you were leaving the country you could take all your Superannuation with you, now it has to stay until your preservation age. I could have started a Transition to Retirement at 55 and at least semi retired. I have to be 60 to do that now. May as well just retire at 60 and not bother with a TTR.

If I were to leave the country with no intention to return I would liquidate my SMSF, not put in a tax return and know-one would be the wiser for at least 12 months which by then I’m long gone.
