I really hate it when the older generation talk about the younger generation being spoilt.
Let's face it - the older generation knew no better, and had zero style when it came to the home. Just look at the number of disgusting land value tips they live in !
Where they got lucky is that those land value tips are now worth $500k-$2.5mil - even though they have put diddly squat into improving their houses.
then they have the liberty to complain that that the youngsters who are funding their ill deserved retirement by buying their overinflated piece of land are spoilt !
The less well off young are forced to move out to the builders' suburbs, and they get a pleasant enough new home as small compensation for being stuck in the middle of nowhere. IMO, that's the least they deserve for having to live there.
