    I was introduced to Motown around the mid 60s by a trumpet player I had worked with on & off. I joined the band he was working in for a while and it was virtually all motown material. Great lead singer, a guy called Freddie Hampton.
    Yes, great music, black just like most of the best jazz players.
    I can't remember many of them now except the most well known. A lasting influence on popular.music.
    Would you call Otis Redding motown? Or some of Ray Charles? If you get the opportunity, see the bio movie
