If anyone is interested in good bang for your bucks in telephoto zoom for DSLR with changeable lenses I would suggest the Tamron SP 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di VC USD. Not cheap but punches up there with the big guys at 4 times the price. It can be bought at around $500 and it will make you smile. I will post a few examples for anyone who is interested later. It's range is good and the picture quality is sharp.
