Haddington early focus 2001-2006 was on Tantalum so it is likely that the pegmatites that were pegged were done for tantalum and it is the association of tantalum that supposes the presence of spodumene
Page 15 of the 2006 Annual report says rab drilling has identified up to fifteen significant anomalies with elevated levels of path finder minerals arsenic , beryllium, caesium, lithium, sodium, niobium, rubidium and tantalum. Further work is required
Many of the pegmatites in the Finnis range area are kaolinised and deeply weathered increasing the possibility for discovery of high grade pegmatites
It is the Kaolinised aspect that is interesting because at Greenbush there is overburden of very white high grade Kaolin
The Greenbushes pegmatite is a zoned pegmatite with a strike length of more than 3 kms. A large part of the pegmatite is still unexplored. It contains zones of tantalite, spodumene, sodium and potassium feldspar with some overburden of a very white, high-grade kaolin.

The Bernic lake pegmatite in Canada is composed of eight discrete mineralogical zones comprising tantalum, lithium, cesium, and rubidium each occuring in seperate zones. Jack McNutt discovered Bernic Lake in 1929 . The site is 130km northwest of Winnipeg. Bernic Lake in Canada is owned by Cabot Corporation
