Let's be honest. If any coffee shop charges surcharge for a cup of coffee because I use Visa card, I just move to another coffee shop with no surcharge. For merchants, they are legally allowed to pass on credit card surcharge to customers and hardly anyone does it these days. For discretionary shopping especially fashion/shoes/accessories, the margin is so high that 4% is nothing. it's silly not to pay 4% and lose a customer. I was a part-time seller on eBay for extra cash and happy to pay 10% commission through their promotional listing.
