Sorry to have to correct you but the records for Rabbit Flat DON'T STOP at 1998!!!!!
There are in fact 2 weather recording sites for Rabbit Flat.
Station 1 ran the recordings for BOM from 1969 to 1998!
Station 2 runs the recordings for BOM starting in 1996 up to today, 24/12/13!
And barring a cyclone wiping it out tomorrow, it will still be recording the weather for the foreseeable future!
Station 2, the current weather station is .7km from the old weather station!
Maybe that one got hit by a cyclone?
BOM Northern Territory has the records for both sites!!!
So from 1969 to 1998, an average of 103.7mm of rain fell in January at Rabbit Flat, which is 87km from Old Pirate.
From 1996 to 2013, an average of 105mm of rain fell in January. The interesting thing is that this 4 inches of rain falls on average over only 7 days. There are 24 days in the month where there is no rain, or less than a millimetre of rain falls.
Please don't try and beat me on the topic of the weather, I am an "old sea dog!" Though some just call me a "dog!!!"
