Good post buggs. Manny of the evidence in the market is a result of a deflationary enviroment.
Shorting gold is a symptom not a cause. I think many people get mixed up between what is the symptom and what the cause.
The usd might have bounced back a little because it was oversold when there was a large stimulas therefore the rise of the USD has nothing to do with US growth.
When investors go on a buying spree some things are often oversold in preference for others.
Gold has probably been over bought which will result in it being oversold. The long term new benchmark might be between 1000 and 1200.
Gold dropped to around 800 in the crash so I cant see the long term median price being above $1000.
