These are hard cold facts re 30 to 35 years needed to commission 1000 MW new nuclear unit as of today. To achieve national transition you refer to ..... at least hundred years are needed and likely more. In the meantime over long hard cold and hot HUNDRED years progressing nations will need power to power computers and development progress towards stated goals. Countries/continents like ours will not make it if we do not start building big time many new clean efficient gas and coal plants asap. We are both right, MWh costs and timing is the only issue at hand.
Europe (Germany) economy is dying slow death as a result of greens abandoning up to thirty running likely world best Siemens nukes and world's cheapest abundant Russian gas and coal. Good luck with that plan.
Replacement of surplus coal plants in operation by new operating nuclear units takes a millisecond. Coal units can remain in cold storage for decades.
Smart countries/continents would build new coal ASAP, very far away from population centres near ocean ..... no brainer.
