news on the street saying its down to 3 suitors for Anglos assets they being YANCOAL, STANMORE, and PEABODY whether or not the mines are being sold off piecemeal or as a whole remains to be seen...meanwhile our very own WHITEHAVEN maybe making a play for private listed KESTREL who run the world's largest underground coal mines producing some 7.1 million tonne of product annually, and sits smack bang in the middle of the Bowen basin in Qld...reports are that the sale is being conducted by the bank of America, Kestrel being a private company i wouldn't imagine too much news being filtered thru... news is anyone making a play for Kestrel would be needing to stump up around $3B plus. if the rumors about Whitehaven making a play for the company are indeed correct then any thoughts of dividends or share buybacks would be put on the backburner...watch this space.
