Couple of good interviews on Skynews, Keith Pitt and Matt Canavan just slammed the Albanesee Govt for their short sighted approach. IMO the Govt are looking for a quick fix and what can be quicker than applying a tax right now, and who better to levy that tax against, but of course gas, coal and oil companies who have been the whipping boys more recently because of their large profits, not to mention the optics of looking good in the eyes of the electorate by taking a big stick to these rich companies and redistributing that wealth to the little people will seem almost Robin Hood like and heroic. Bringing on more gas supply domestically is probably part of the answer, eg Narrabri is shovel ready but that's not going to happen immediately and that's what the Govt want...an immediate sugar hit called "tax"
