Been a holder since late 2019 accumulating over the past few years. It's been fun/informative watching these forums since the beginning of my investment. Haven't had much to add to the discussion but I feel the following may be useful for people to consider;

$300AUD wasn't the only price point that was affected by the royalty hikes in Queensland https://budget.qld.gov.au/highlights/coal-royalties/ but rather everything above $175AUD. I've added the AUD to USD rates assuming 70c on the dollar for a rough comparison. Also consider that our dollar has devalued by 21% over the last 10 years. Nothing in the government document is stated with inflation adjustment in mind so the real values in todays terms will be higher than what's underlined (namely that half of all coking coal and 2.5% of thermal in that time has been over $175AUD) considering $175AUD now is equivalent to ~$138AUD 10 years ago.

Ignoring the fact that we're in a high inflationary environment and we assume that in 10 years time the dollar devalues another 21%, what is today looked at as $175AUD being hit with a higher royalty is the equivalent of ~$138AUD 10 years from now. Using the same 70c AUD to USD conversion, we're looking at the higher royalties starting to kick in at around $97USD.

Also remember, that new mines take years to develop therefore the future purchasing power equivalent of the royalties is already having an effect before their first shipment.

To now say that none of this should have some sort of effect on investment decisions for new mines in Queensland would be factually wrong.
