The dark depths of the earth do yield

A treasure black as night,

A fuel that burns with mighty heat

And gives us ample light.

Deep in the mines, the miners toil

In danger and in fear,

For coal is hard to extract

And accidents do occur.

But still they brave the rocky depths

And labor night and day,

To bring this precious resource

Up from the depths of the earth to stay.

Though dangers lurk and darkness reigns

In the depths below,

The miners' valiant effort brings

A bright light to the world we know.

So let us praise the miners bold

Who brave the depths below,

For their hard work and sacrifice

Bring light and warmth to us all.
