Tend to agree with hagetaka. The professionals from overseas are a mixed bag, some are fine but some are an absolute liability. At any rate the visas are much harder to get now, it's not as easy as in the last boom when we were swamped 457 visas, a decent number of whom would struggle to spell geology, let alone practise it. Trying to communicate over the radio on haul roads, some of them are just fatalities waiting to happen.
Hopefully the new visa system goes some way to weeding out those ones, but I don't think we will get enough in from overseas to cover the skill shortage.
