It has just been reported in the last 3 hours of some new "warm" & encouraging comments, towards Australia, from the Chinese Foreign Minister - & from Chairman Xi himself.

This might be the first step in removing the Chinese Communist's Party's outrageous, & bullying (& probably illegal, under WTO rules etc.) unofficial trade war against Australia, & bans on multiple commodities etc. The CCP was lying about the "poor quality" of our hitherto strongly regarded exports to it.

It has been suggested a few times in Australian & Chinese media, since July 2022, that China may wish to reverse its bans on our "poor quality, misclassified" thermal & met coal.
If the CCP decides to start buying our coal again (previously a huge customer for our superior, cf China's , 6000kcal thermal coal), then, obviously, the increased demand will significantly increase its price.

Senator Wong is in Beijing to meet with her counterpart Wang Yi as part of the first official visit to China by an Australian minister since 2019.

Until recently Australia had been put in a diplomatic deep freeze by China, but high-level lines of communication reopened between the government and the People's Republic of China after Labor's federal election win in May.

Speaking alongside Senator Wong before their official meeting, Mr Wang said the change in government and a recent meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was the beginning of an improvement to the two nations' relationship.

Earlier, Chinese state media reported that President Xi said he attaches "great importance" to developing relations with between China and Australia, and that he will work to promote a comprehensive strategic partnership, state media reports.

Mr Xi made the comments in a report from China Central Television (CCTV), a state-owned media outlet.

"I attach great importance to the development of China-Australia relations and am willing to work with the Australian side," he said".
