Saw a snippet about traders closing many short positions in the gas market overnight. Maybe there was a raid on coal shorts as well?? Anyhow, I hope the faithful didn't get shaken today, it's been a long road to this point but nowhere near over yet.
I have a feeling the energy markets were targeted and they filled their boots. Anyone with any knowledge of company figures etc. are currently locked out from buying or selling, which means days like today are an orchestrated shake out. Only can call that in hindsight as it was a terrible time this morning.
With the hands that are tied at the moment during this black out period, big boys will play!! I bet by next Friday the price will be back to high 9s or low 10s as the buyback boy will be back on deck with a new big sweaty cheque book, launching into the next phase of the buyback at whatever price the market sets at the time.
Buy back is tracking nicely anyhow, with 1/6th of the 240mil shares bought back over the first 2 months. Will be interesting to see if 40mil buyback is achieved over the next 2months, but would need to be substantially more aggressive as that would require the shares to be bought by end of February.
