thermal coal price has crashed due to record cheap gas flooding the European market from the US and reducing coal use there, plus cheaper and more coal exports from Indonesia displacing indirectly higher CV coal. Crash in Asian LNG prices also depressed Asian thermal coal demand. Newc prices should hopefully stabilise once demand from Japan picks up and Asian LNG rise enough to make it uncompetitive when compared to coal for power generation.
