    1. Re discussions re the drop in NEWC 6000kcal to c. US $245, it needs to be remembered that WHC is paid in US $ for the coal it exports: the lower the AUD $ vs US $, the more profitable coal exports are for WHC etc..

About 2 months ago, IIRC, $1 AUD = c. US .61c (great for WHC profits)- a few days ago, however, it = US 70c. WHC profits therefore, in AUD terms, have dropped c. 13%. This is a partial reason for the drop in the WHC SP.

(The major reason for the drop, IMO, is the large stockpiles of thermal coal now in the EU & UK. They were panic-buying coal up to c.5 weeks ago- but the very mild autumn & winter has allayed fears of winter energy blackouts there. This has released cheaper- cf Australian- South African & Columbian 6000kcal coal, formerly being bought by the EU & UK, to now be bought by Asian countries.

I have no idea how the future US $ vs AUD $ exchange rate will develop.

2.It is incontrovertible that fossil fuels will be crucial for providing power, andthe transition to renewable energy, for several more decades at least.
Fossill fuels are also crucial for other esential items, totally unrelated to transportation.
This article (only one of many) demolishes any "arguments", or notions, of their imminent demise.

Due to the currentsevereunderinvestment in fossil fuels (related to ESG policies etc.), the prices of gas, oil, & coal are likley to remain high (cf recent historical prices) for many years. This will obviously benefit WHC investors.
    Enjoy.

"The transition from fossil fuels to electrified transportation and renewable energy is predicated on two assumptions: that there will be enough raw materials (eg lithium, cobalt, nickel, copper etc. my words) to make this change; and that eventually we won’t require fossil fuels anymore. Both of these claims are false...

But many fail to appreciate that unless the electricity that goes into the batteries is clean, cars, trucks, planes, ships and trains will continue to need fossil fuels. Globally, most of the energy used to charge the batteries that go into EVs, will come from coal and natural gas. Facilities that produce wind, solar, nuclear and hydro power, are also reliant on fossil fuels, used to mine and manufacture their component parts...

However, Nasser also said that mis-steps during the global energy transition would only encourage greater use of coal by many Asian countries. “For policymakers in those countries the priority is to put food on the table for their people. If coal can do it for half the price they will do it with coal.”

(We alsosaw this in Germany, before Russia attacked Ukraine, precipitating thecurrent energy crisis. The country tried to switch too soon to renewable energy, retiring its nuclear andcoalpower plants, only to find that the wind and sun didn’t produce enough electricity. Germany had to rely on Russian natural gas and the burning of lignite coal to keep the lights on and homes/ businesses heated throughout the winter.)".
