Hi Vanguardian78
What is relevant to the SP of the fossil fuel companies, are the convictions some people have about the causes of climate change. Some of those so convinced have a burning drive to shut those industries down, little realising that they are shooting themselves, and everyone else, in the foot. The realisation is dawning that alternatives to coal, oil and gas are far from being achieved in the scale necessary for their replacement.
I note that there are a couple of shareholder resolutions coming up at the April AGM in Perth for a major Australian player in oil and gas; it appears to me that the intent of these resolutions is to shut down the primary business of the company. According to the company, The shareholders own .002% of the company - a bit less than 40,000 shares between them.
Tail trying to wag the dog? Not if they bend the ears of the institutional investors. This is why the argument matters.
