1. China is experiencing above average temperatures this nthn. summer.
I assume it is el nino- related; & that China (& many other countries in Asia) will need to import more coal, to avoid power blackouts.
Their hydro power diminshed last summer- drought & water evaporation.

The situation was "relatively severe" in regards to power grid security, the agency said.

In the port city of Tianjin, an increased demand for air-conditioning has pushed up the power grid's load 23% relative to last year".

The demand for air conditioning ( & refrigeration) is growing strongly throughout China, & many other Asian countries- & air cons use much power.
