Good news for thermal coal producers in Australia- it appears the $125 price cap on the thermal coal provided to power stations here is likely to be lifted. This would result in higher profits for Aust. thermal coal miners.

This move would surprise me, as it does not fit with the usual ALP narratives of being (publicly, at least- for the ALP desperately wants the huge tax revenues etc. that coal miners provide to governments) somewhat negative on our coal miners, whilst proclaiming its populist desire to keep power prices down for the public.
What am I missing, re this reversal? Can anyone explain?
