Sorry, I'm a bit dense. Why would someone exercise a call option a $8+ when the current price is $7?
Did you mean someone exercised a put option, and the seller of the put has had to buy the shares at over $8?
Apologies if I misunderstood what you meant, or how options work period. Options are still new to me.
