Thermal coal is indeed challenged in the longer term, especially since 50% of WHC’s sales currently go to Japan, who are ramping up their nuclear fleet once again. And natural gas is looking oversupplied which doesn’t help the thermal coal side either.
Now… if only WHC had made bucketloads of cash in the last couple of years and were able to pivot their business towards 70% met coal and reduce reliance on thermal down to 30%… if only…
