Not to forget minor irritant issues like exploding costs. Both of your examples cost at least 10x original estimates and rising. If approved TODAY cost overruns can be safely estimated at minimum 10x to likely 20x plus minimum. Major poor olde Western nuclear builders are all bankrupt or on life support today. This is not an industry you can resurrect overnight.

Icing on the nuclear option cake is insurance and finance. No major western bank or insurer would finance or God forbid insure private or government owned nuclear plant ....... For obvious reasons, damages after Fukushima or Chernobyl are above all imaginable cost....... The only Australian option to order new safe cost controlled 1,000 MW unit in Australia are Chinese or Russians. Likely start date 10 to 12 years from order. Period.

As a side irritant issue current plans to spend billion dollars on Australian solar panel manufacturing industry are forgetting huge MWh requirements for such manufacture. Coal fired plants are the only option of course, ask Chinese.
