It's not being reported in capital city media AFAIK but allegedly most nights, protestors are blocking coal trains in the NSW Hunter Valley, including those from WHC's Maules Creek and Narrabri mines to the Port of Newcastle.

The passenger trains (Newcastle Interchange to Maitland and beyond) have two tracks parallel to the two 'coal lines' so both are affected by this stupid, pointless protesting. However as @hagetaka would remind us, the coal loading points at the Port of Newcastle normally have stockpiles:

    Incident activity

    • Ongoing - Until further notice

    Details

    • Trains continue to be affected by an ongoing police operation at various Hunter Line locations.
    • Extended travel time may be experienced, or trains may be replaced by limited buses at short notice.
    • Trains that are unable to complete their full journey before 7pm, and up until 7am the following morning will be replaced by a limited bus service. This will begin affecting trains from around 5.30pm.
    • Buses will not run to the normal train timetable so please allow plenty of extra travel time, delay overnight or early morning travel if possible or consider using other transport.
