Renewables are great for powering a home and everything in it, sort of!
Coal is currently the only source of power capable of producing enough KW to build the house/construction material required. This includes powering all the factories required to manufacture all the bits and bobs that make a house a home. Renewables require coal power to manufacture themselves and recycle themselves.
When we run out of fossil fuels we will also run out of electricity globally, unless nuclear steps up. This will not happen overnight and we will likely see electricity revert back to what it once was, an expensive luxury for the rich.
The coming years will see a ecological disaster as thousands of tons of renewables are discarded and either require recycling or end up in landfill.
