I'm not convinced, local energy production and distributed supply sound great at the first flush, but unless you have got the reliability in aggregate better than that from a centralised model - you are onto a hiding longer term as the MTTF curve bites hard. Great if you are in the business of selling tech that keeps needing replacing, but actually much worse for the environment...
