All we need is 2 days of total grid failure due to unreliable green power sources, which is looking quite likely and this misadventure into a hotchpotch of highly variable power sources will get assigned by all parties (except the Greens) to the 'never touch again' bin.
People won't forget the lights going out and their food going rotten in the fridge. The Europeans are currently finding out the hard way that making something reliable is a darn sight harder the more complex you make it.
