100 million tonnes. Sounds like a lot, but it's only adding 11-22 days of supply. I presume this is outside of the standard power plants own stockpile.
From a month ago "Citi said most coal-fired power stations had seen their stockpiles fall from a standard 20 days of consumption to between 10 and 15 days or even lower with some plants below 10 days."
Calculation: 2019 had 1000GW of coal power plants in China, using 9000tonnes a day per GW. Results in 22 days at 50% utilization, and 11 days at 100%. I think I read a report that said their coal plants (in total) were running at just under 50% utilization.
Considering the government likes to control everything, and with the power stations current drop in stockpiled supply. This makes sense. Although I am surprised its not higher.
Australia has between 50-90 days of oil stockpiles for example.
I hope they don't keep all that coal in the one spot. (fun fact: coal can self combust under its own weight if there is too much of it piled on top of itself!)
