Good comments, Hindmost. You are correct that of course union members don't want to lose their jobs. But Labor has always sold itself as being "for the Worker!"...(you know; Hammer and Sickle...) Now, Labor has joined itself at the hip to the Greens and is barking mad about climate change and how to stop it. Really difficult to reconcile this situation UNLESS one considers the numbers....perhaps Labor thinks that, if they kill the coal industry and 20,000 miners lose their jobs it's bad. But, if they pick up 500,000 young, inner-urban,tree-hugging social-justice "warriors" then that's a good deal.
Maybe that's the End-Game. Sacrifice the mine-workers on the altar of climate change?
