Yeah - good call Shimmer, Vale would suit too.

I guess we all get the feeling China would like to maintain its global REE leverage, so definitely there is that predator aspect on their behalf - which is also in my mind when pointing to Xstrata/Glencore - because they tend to be quick to pounce (i.e. head off any Chinese action), they are reasonably risk adverse enough not to be too bothered about the unknowns, and Glencore has a habit of taking strategic corners in markets. They also already have all the expertise in-house

I agree with those points about the US, but IMO, I think Tanzania is probably a level playing field for anyone willing to take risk.

Die hard Pekkers would know better than I, but I guess that China, Japan, Korea, the US and Germany are the biggest users of REE in manufacturing and Europe is the biggest consumer. Does Europe have much of a stake in REE production anywhere? Back to Xstrata/Glencore again. Operations headed up in Jo'burg - marketing arm in Zug.

All speculation of course - time will tell - but yeah, wouldn't like to see the Chinese get it.
