Finally, at least early on Trudeau at the time was convinced that Trump behavior was explained by his covering of Canadian minerals and resources in particular rare earth. He has since moved on to Greenland although we have not heard much about that lately. Maybe the quest was to cabbage as much easily accessible rare earth to get us over the next 2 decades before technology or off-Earth resources could move the frontier back. Lynas fits neatly into that narrative viz-a-viz China.
