Tariffs on our beef

For the record 95% of beef produced in the US comes out of a feedlot. When they are processed the lower value parts are ground up for burgers. To make it saleable they need lean red beef from countries who produce mainly grass fed beef , less fat, like Australia and South America. Without that beef they are in strife as their fatty trim ground beef is unsaleable. The result of this move is to make the cheapest meal option for most Americans in lower financial demographics more expensive . So they go to Walmart to buy their 10lb packs of ground burger beef and it will cost them more.As for US meat? The American cattle herd is at its lowest in 70 yrs due to an already shrinking industry and the effects of a prolonged drought much like the one we dealt with 5 yrs ago. The result being that US cattle prices are more than twice ours. Bring an American steak to Australia and we would have to lease it as we could not afford to buy it.I am left wondering about American companies like Cargill who operate feedlots and abattoirs in Australia yet export to the US...where their profits end up
