The Tasmanian Opposition is calling on the Government to release a report on the economic position of Tasmania.

The Regional Economic Development Investment Report was due for release earlier this year.

Deputy Opposition leader Jeremy Rockliff says it is now six months overdue and the Government is withholding vital information from businesses and investors.

"We still have not got this vital piece of information, because it's very critical that people understand, and businesses in the state understand, the current and expected economic activity within the state, investment intentions and the current and recent economic drivers in the state," he said.

"I am at a loss to understand why the report has not been released and I hope it's not because of bad news that the Government is hiding because we have had good economic growth in Tasmania and we want that to continue."

Economic Development Minister Bryan Green says the report is finished and will be released soon.

He says it confirms the Tasmanian economy has never been stronger.
