Richard Ivers, a portfolio manager at Prime Value Asset Management, also sees plenty of opportunity in micro-caps. His Prime Value Emerging Opportunities Fund topped the Mercer rankings for investment performance among smaller companies managers for the three years to June 30, 2022.
His first micro-cap pick isTask Group,which has a $142 million market cap based on a share price close to 40¢.
“It does end-to-end transaction management platforms,” he says. “Point-of-sale, apps, loyalty, it does software for McDonald’s in about 50 countries. And it has $30 million in cash for an enterprise value of $115 million, so the price to earnings multiple is 12 times.”
