Interesting, but looking at Barramundi, Cod, Talapia, none of them grow to the size of Salmon in a comparable timeframe.

I assume a smaller fish is more expensive to process, and a slower growing fish will cost more even with a similar FCR just because it ties up physical resources longer.

If there was a good alternative to salmon for finfish farming those that currently do it would be expanding fast, but as you mention, it could be because the genetics havent been advanced as much as salmon.

It would be good to have a whitefish for species diversification, but hard to see a clear winner.
