I've been in Melbourne whilst some key AFL matches were on...also Geelong...this new stadium brings a new AFL team with the ability to host home matches. There is basically hundreds, if not thousands who follow the matches around, plus you have Tassie locals to attend as well.
Incidentally, I was in Hobart for it's Triathlon once and the numbers of participants plus their connections plus tourists was huge. Whilst eco and environmental tourism is huge worldwide, sport tourism is also huge.
