Any capital dividend will reduce the SP, so not really better off by mutch. It just reduces your investment in the company. Now higher dividends from consistently higher revenue profits is what increases a SP. That is why selling off profitable parts of the company just does very little for shareholders.

I think the philosophy at AMP is now defeatist. They have no confidence in reinvigorating the brand, so they have to wind the company down and lean on others to help them make money. For a wealth promoting and creating company this is a disaster. I have really lost confidence in the company and its present board and officers to turn this around. I and holding long on a parcel of shares and trading the rest on the volatility of their incompetence. My sentiment won't change however from hold to buy or sell. They need another sentiment "trade".
