    Hi jw1000,

All patents include a description and claims, and usually drawings.

The claims are the definition of the invention.

For example, the bloke who invented the wheel had a patent, the first claim of which read:

    1. A circular body with an axle centrally disposed transversely therethrough.

Then the bloke who invented the monocycle claimed:

    1. A circular body with an axle centrally disposed transversely therethrough and a first substantially "L" shaped pedal attached to a first end of the axle, and a second "L" shaped pedal attached to a second end of the axle.

Now the second bloke had a valid invention, but he needed a licence from the first bloke before he could use his invention.

So anyone who incorporates Akida IP into their product needs to pay a licence fee to BrainChip in the countries where BrainChip has a patent for the IP.

In addition, the Akida IP may include confidential information or know-how, and, if it has been legitimately disclosed to the other party by BrainChip under a contract including confidentiality, there would be a licence fee for use of the information.
