Hi Guys
One day I will possibly need an operation to fix a damaged mitral valve ...
I am writing to ask if anyone has knowledge of the TMVR operation to the extent of how the existing damaged valve is handled ... as in is it reamed out? what about the little "strings" supporting the leaflets in the "natural" valve which are anchored behind the natural valve? ... surely they can't be left in place to simply flap about? ... what holds the new valve securely in place? as in sutures/glue /pins/staples? ... assuming all is done well during the operation, does the patient need blood thinners every day for the rest of his/her life?
A link to a video clip would be great ... but an explanation is the main thing
