I guess it all lies with the interpretation of 'success'.
Successful science and technology is one thing...commercial success is another.
The results to date are encouraging, and if the same data is realised from the next study (1000 participants plus).........the technology will be pretty much a given and we will be the belle of the ball. Many of us have faith and belief that we are on the path to success - but the fat lady is yet to sing, and until she does, there will be an element of risk in the science....and adding a layer of complexity (and a potential barrier) to others wanting to take over.

I am not sure the chance of success is the issue, but the time and investment required that might be offputting, in addition to how much risk the others believe that we pose to the space in the future.
