What right does kloppers have to throw shareholder funds around as if they are a plaything for the alp and the greens. His outburst re a carbon tax this week was very disconcerting.

bhp was instrumental in bringing us to this political situation we have - labor with the ga ga greens and some nutcase independents with the balance of power!!

yes, they had to fight the original mining tax, but then they tried to be too clever by thinking they had outsmarted the gov't and outflanked the opposition.

In agreeing to gillards compromise for what is still a bad tax he has just given away some 10% of shareholder value and what benefits did it gain for bhp shareholders ? What BHP did was to give Bob Brown the power to bring in a carbon tax or something similar, which will no doubt destroy even more shareholder value ( lets not even mention the greens PREVENTING EXPANSION OF BHP's uranium mines ).

i would encourage all shareholders to get active before and at bhp's next meetings. This irresponsibility needs to be stopped - the executive ( and for that matter Nasser and the board ) need to make decisions in the interests of the company's owners, and not to try and buy kred with the political and media elite to try and ensure they are invited to all of the important cocktail parties.
