I am buying shares in the expectation that they will be an income producing asset in the near future through dividend yields, even though they arent being paid now so technically i am investing for the purposes of generating income and If I pick up some capital gains along the way then its a bonus ;)...I guess it depends on how technical the tax rulings actually are.
anyway I have put this scenario to a number of sources so it will be interesting to find out if there are loopholes.
