Quite by accident the lion's share of my portfolio is listed on the TSX.
I am thinking of opening an account with Interactive Brokers (IB) to write covered calls with proceeds into a linked American/Canadian bank account with attached credit card, and living somewhere/anywhere with a web connection. I really don't mind paying tax on income but don't want to repatriate the funds and pay cap gains.
If I stay in Oz could the proceeds be taxed in the US where I would only pay 15%, and be tax free here?
