what is pretty clear here is conflict of interest needs to extend beyond a politicians term in office and it needs to extend to taxpayers money being given to the unions as well
an independent body in government needs to be set up to approve these payments and set strict conditions on the payments as well
right now there is no law stopping a pollie making a decision that benefits a private company , foreign government or NGO and the politician gaining from that financially through employment at a future date
it is a bribe , pure and simple and both sides have done it in recent times
