Hi guys ive just got a couple of questions.

1.) is bank interest taxed at the same rate as dividends?

im just a normal person with a normal job with normal income, say I get $200 bank interest and I get $200 in dividends paid to me, do they both get taxed at the same rate?


2.) say I have a capital LOSS of $5,000

and I have $500 in dividends paid to me, can I use that capital loss to offset my dividends for the yr?

or can I only use a capital loss to offet capital gains? and not dividend income or bank interest income?
