    Hi Dino
    I think the 2750 is most reasonable and pretty competitive as it involves family trust and your personal return which further involves techincal capital gains tax issues and so forth.

    Chartered accountants tend to charge out minimum $180 per hour excluding GST for the preparation and lodgment of your tax affairs.

    You are maybe forgeting the time clock starts from the minute you sit down with the accountant and NOT just how long he/she takes to prepare. so the breakdown i assume would be as follows;

    1.5 hrs initial consultation
    3 hrs personal tax return
    4.5 hrs trust tax return
    1 hrs for various emails and telephone call attendance if any.
    1 hrs of further acting with ATO for correspondence

    thats a total of roughly 11 hours for your job. If his rate is $180 per hour thats about $2000 plus GST.

    So your accountant hourly rate is about $250 per hour which is reasonable.

    I know KMPG and the big 4's rate is about $600 per hour.
