Like what? a place to kneel?
Like all charities, religious tax-free based charities only use the donated money for charity.
Religions own a fast amount of land that all Australian capital cites are built on and we (councils etc.) have to pay the Church rent for 'their' land? Why do they not have to pay capital gains tax? Where is the money going?
There's no doubt governments should always be doing a better job. However why we allow our country to be a tax haven for sects is beyond me.

Holding governments/people to emotional ransom is just part and parcel of the religious way I guess.
People will always create and donate to charities.
